Somehow I ended up with a file called cont-tmf.zip thinking it was the beta. I can't even find the (apparently obsolete) page I downloaded that from again. Anyway, installing the beta (per the context garden instructions) worked with the new default. It did pick-up changes to luatex.savesize.
